Project Summary
Since the escalation of hostilities on November 28, nearly one million people have been internally displaced across Syria, including over 155,000 individuals experiencing secondary displacement. Women and children represent the majority of those affected, with women and girls comprising almost 50% of the displaced population. Aleppo Governorate remains the most severely impacted, followed by Hama and Homs, where food insecurity continues to worsen.
This project was designed to respond to the urgent humanitarian need by providing essential food assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees, particularly in Aleppo Governorate, where food shortages, non-functioning bakeries, and limited access to basic supplies have left families struggling to survive.
Current Status of the Project
At this stage, the project has not yet started implementation, as no donations have been received toward the $20,000 fundraising target. The absence of funding has prevented the initiation of procurement, food basket preparation, and distribution activities.
Despite this challenge, the need for the project remains critical. Food insecurity continues to affect children, women—especially pregnant and lactating women—and elderly individuals, placing them at increased risk of malnutrition and poor health outcomes.
Preparedness and Readiness
Although implementation has not yet begun, Ufuk Horizon remains fully prepared to launch the project immediately once funding is secured. Preliminary planning has been completed, including:
All operational systems are in place to ensure accountability, effectiveness, and timely delivery of assistance once resources become available.
Expected Impact
Once funded and implemented, the project is expected to:
Looking Ahead
Ufuk Horizon continues to actively promote this project and engage potential donors to secure the necessary funding. We remain committed to delivering this intervention as soon as financial support is received and will provide timely updates on progress through future reports.
Conclusion
While no activities have been implemented to date due to funding constraints, the humanitarian need remains urgent. We are grateful for GlobalGiving’s continued support and platform, which enables us to raise awareness and seek the partnerships needed to bring this critical project to life.
