Dear friends,
The new year has brought new directions to Anudip Foundations.
In December we celebrated passing the 20,000 student milestone in our march to the target of 150,000 in ten years.
Anudip received a 10 million rupees (US$ 170,000) grant from the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation.
Our expansion plans now take us beyond the states of West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand into Bihar.
We are beginning to focus our work of providing alternate livelihoods into three of the neediest communities in India:
We are providing IT and traditional skills to these people and placing them in either jobs of large rural co-operatives so that they can make better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities.
We are piloting new technologies to deploy compelling multimedia training curriculum in classrooms with intermittent elecrical power and internet, inalienable features of our work environments. These technologies simultaneously allow better trainer productivity, improved training quality and consistency, and larger class sizes - all of which will enhance Anudip to finance more of its expenses through earned income, reducing our reliance on grants.
The company celebrated its achievements with picnics, cricket tournaments, and cultural events in Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, and Ranchi, as we looked forward to scaling higher peaks in 2014.
With warm regards
Dipak Basu, CEO
