Dear Friends,
A lot has happened since our last update.
In last quarter, Anudip secured support from organizations such as J.P. Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo and HSBC India. Through these partnerships, Anudip aims to train and place over 3500 youth across three of the most populated states of India over a period of 24-26 months.
Presence of large scale unemployment, lack of penetration of new economy benefits, and stable occupational opportunities, force rural and peri-urban youth to relocate to urban areas, overcrowding the cities and exhausting their resources. Most of these low-income youth from disadvantaged communities are unable to compete with the urban work force due to their education quality, trade knowledge, and absence of corporate awareness. These youngsters are generally dropouts from schools/colleges between the age of 18-25 years and have limited skills to compete with the urban workforce for new economy jobs. Anudip’s programs have been designed to assist such youth to step out of the generational poverty trap, often riddled with financial debts, and avoid social evils like trafficking, insurgency or early marriages.
It is only through placement; development of career path with the help of our training courses (job/trade specific and soft-skills) that Anudip is able to build resilience among youth. Programs’ effectiveness and open feedback from youth have assisted Anudip to understand its strengths and weakness; and develop a customized program that caters to the requirement of the youth making it the most sort after courses among marginalised youth. Needless to say that this has kept us true to our mission as well.
Felicitation at Anudip New Orleans Sheriff’s Day Reporting Center
A commemorative event was held at the New Orleans Sheriff’s Day Reporting Center for award of graduation certificates to the first batch of Anudip students who are under the city’s probation and parole system. There was much to celebrate as the graduating students (100% have secured IT jobs) and an incoming cohort of students were presented to Sheriff Marlin Gusman and Charu Adesnik, Deputy Director of Cisco Foundation. Cisco is the sponsor of Anudip’s New Orleans program.
