Dear friends,
We wanted to send you an update on what's been happening at SYSC over the past few months, thanks to your generous support.
Eight youth from our Livelihood and Life Skills project completed their six-month skills training in September: two youth were trained as electricians, two as plumbers, and four as masons. We're thrilled that all the masons and plumbers were given full-time employment afterward by Options for Homes Kenya. Their skills are in high demand in the construction sector. We are currently assisting the electricians to set up self-employment.
We have recently recruited 8 more trainees and arranged apprenticeship placements with Options for Homes Kenya. SYSC will pay these trainees basic labour wages during their training period.
Your support is also making it possible to continue to run our Scouts program, which offers life skills training and health education to local youth. The members continue to provide much-needed volunteer services to the community, including community clean-ups.
We are so grateful for your ongoing support. We know that the pandemic has been rough for everyone, and we are very appreciative of your continued support for at-risk youth here in Shauri Yako!
Warmly,
