Recent World Heart Beat concerts

By Sahana Gero | Artistic Director

Last week, our students were invited to play at the Royal Albert Hall’s La Verdi Restaurant as part of the ‘Live Music in Verdi programme. This was a truly beautiful lunchtime concert in this iconic venue and the home of the UK’s most famous stages where the world’s leading figures in music, have appeared over the years. Our talented young musicians performed a wonderful programme of Jazz to a bustling and fully booked restaurant.

We are so grateful to GlobalGiving for supporting our Jazz programme at World Heart Beat and enabling the greatest exponents of Jazz to come and teach and support these young musicians every week. These invitations to perform in such high profile and beautiful venues are are only possible because of the tuition and work that you support.

Every performance given by these young musicians is a vital experience in their formative years. They are continually building repertoire and pushing their experience further under the direction of the amazing tutors at World Heart Beat Music Academy. They are all improving in their confidence, performance and professionalism as well as musically. It was fantastic to see some of the younger Jazz musicians Jesse (13) Lucas (15) and Tom (15) performing alongside Renato, who has now graduated from World Heart Beat and is working on the West End stage.

“I wanted to thank you and your amazing artists for performing...It really added an extra dimension to our celebrations being entertained by students from the academy and made it much more special for us.

I think everyone was overwhelmed by the talent of all the performers. I spent a lot of the event convincing people that the musicians were students and not already full-time professionals. Almost all of the thank you emails we've had this morning have mentioned the music.

After everyone had left last night I was talking to the events manager who wanted to know where we'd hired you, he also refused to believe they were students and said they performance was far superior to many of the professional groups they have playing at events in the club.” – Chris

A few days later our students were also invited to perform at the Passion Project Gala Dinner at the Emirates stadium. The Passion Project targets youth unemployment by seeking to create meaningful employment for young people based on their talents and passions. In this way, this was a perfect event for World Heart Beat students to perform at given that they are following their talent and passions to become the experienced and confident musicians of the future.

Thank you to your support with this programme which is vital to help us enrich people’s lives through music, nurture tomorrow’s artists, and make our music programmes open to as many people as possible.
