Hope you're all enjoying a good summer.
We have been having a great time here at World Heart Beat with our fantastic Tango Music Summer School at the end of July, with Argentinian sax and keyboard player Blas Rivera and bandoneonist Otto Hanriot, working with the wonderful, talented young musicians of the World Heart Beat Music Academy. It has been a great opportunity for the students of the Academy to learn the ethos and the rhythms of tango which culminated in a superb concert (also starring Patriciá Melenca, vocals; David Chew, cello) at London's 606 Club on 1 August. A very good evening was had by all - audience and musicians alike!
In early September we have a beautiful Japanese Jazz Flautist, Erisa Ogawa, joining us for a special jazz workshop and concert at the Academy in the evening.
We would like to invite you to an upcoming World Heart Beat concert ... our fantastic 51st State Band will be performing live at Putney Arts Theatre SW15 6AW at 6:45 and 8:30 on Friday 17 November 2017. Our vibrant programme showcases the talent, enthusiam and passion of our incredible young musicians. We would love to have you with us and you can apply for tickets through the following website: www.ticketsource.co.uk/whb.
Thank you so much to everyone for all your continued support and interest in the wonderful World Heart Beat Music Academy - perhaps you would like to become a Friend and set up a monthly donation through GlobalGiving. You could become a Con Amore Friend for just £20 per month or a Bravura Friend for £40 and this would provide a bursary for three students to study for a full year.
And once again, we must send our warmest congratulations to Sahana Gero, Artistic Director, for being awrded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for her relentless work to bring the joy of performing music to those that might otherwise not have the opportunity!
