Devetaki Plateau Association works to boost the economic and cultural development of the Devetaki Plateau region and its 9 villages organizing an annual Jazz Fest. The three-day event consists of two evening concerts, workshops from experienced musicians and a Jazz for Kids show. This will bring together talented musicians and children as well as adventurers and journalists from all over Bulgaria, who will spend time here and further promote the region as a tourist and cultural destination.
Like many rural areas in Bulgaria, the villages in the Devetaki Plateau suffer deep demographic and economic decline. Most people leave for the towns searching for jobs, for cultural and social life. Only lovers of the extreme came here, for a one-day stay. Thanks to the efforts of the local community and the Association, the area started a second life by developing as a tourist destination. However, consecutive steps are needed towards promoting the area throughout Bulgaria and abroad.
The 11th edition of the Jazz Under The Stars fest will be held on June 27 (a warm-up concert), 28 (workshops, major concert and jam session), and 29 (Jazz for kids). It will help the local businesses - accommodation houses, small restaurants and producers of goods in the 9 villages. It will attract new audiences - young people, families with kids, and further promote the region as a tourist destination. The event will also convey our message for peace, love and community building through music.
The Association works for the sustainable development and vitalization of the villages. The first 9 editions of the fest showed its potential to grow and have impact on the place: about 60 famous Bulgarian jazz - musicians and over 10 000 people visited the event so far. Making it traditional, it will attract more tourists and media coverage. Visitors and photographers will help promote the event and the region, in the long run.
