Movement for Solidarity and Peace (MSP) in Pakistan supports vulnerable groups, especially religious and ethnic minorities in Pakistan, primarily by researching human rights violations. By disseminating the resulting reports to Pakistani and US stakeholders, MSP hopes to enable all individuals and communities in Pakistan to live with dignity, security and guaranteed human rights.
Since the early 1980s, religious extremism in Pakistan has resulted in the rise of rhetoric against ethnic and religious minorities. This targeting has led to the assassination of ethnic and religious minority community leaders as well as organized mass crimes against larger communities. While there are widespread reports of such events, there lacks an in-depth research and analysis to inform policy makers and concerned individuals.
Through our investigation, MSPs draws out trends and patterns of human rights abuse which show systematic violations against particular groups. Working in partnership with affected communities, MSP researchers use fact finding missions to determine the extent of human rights violations. Historical, legal and political analysis is provided to allow readers better contextualization. The result is published in reports which include policy recommendations in legal and law enforcement mechanisms.
MSP reports are designed to inform policy makers and guide structural reform through recommendations. These recommendations have the potential to halt the spread of anti ethnic and religious minority violence at the source. In countering the information gap on the rise of religious extremism, MSP works towards a peaceful and prosperous future for Pakistan.
