Children growing up in Taiwan's rural areas fall behind academically at twice the rate of their urban peers. These challenges stem not from the children, but from their environments: 1 in 5 elementary schools in Taiwan has fewer than 50 students; shrinking school size in rural areas might lead to multi-grade teaching, heavier administrative burdens, and reduced instructional quality. Rural schools experience high teacher turnover, disrupting learning stability.
In the Classroom: Each year, TFT places 100+ trained teachers in rural elementary schools, providing stable learning support for children. Public Advocacy: For over ten years, TFT has held annual exhibitions sharing real stories from rural classrooms, reaching 20+ million people online and 100,000+ attendences in person in the past five years. Policy Advocacy: We bring frontline insights into dialogue with education stakeholders to improve how teachers are recruited, trained in rural school.
Since its founding, We have recruited and trained 450+ teachers, serving more than 7,500 children in rural areas. Over 80% of program alumni continue working in education or social-impact fields, contributing to long-term systemic change.
