Our seven Social Innovators are on their way to the Showcase in May, where they will pitch to an audience of over 300 business and philanthropic leaders in the Greater Boston area! Each of our nonprofit leaders have met with their Social Innovation Forum consultants at least every other week since their match in late December. Their intensive work from January to April 2015 includes developing a relationship map, model graphic, four-page prospectus, five-minute pitch with a PowerPoint, and a set of measurable outcomes. Our consultants have been working to help each organization define its anticipated growth and development over the next two years, and more immediately to get ready for the big Showcase event in May!
Our Innovators have also met with the SIF team and each other once a month since December 2014. These meetings provide a space for Innovators to share experiences and lessons learned and to meet key in-kind partners and for the SIF team to ensure that Innovators are aware of all upcoming meetings, events, and deliverable deadlines. SIF also hosted a separate “Board Breakfast” in February to present the SIF process and goals to the board members of our Social Innovators.
Additionally, SIF is currently coordinating a “Social Issue Talk” series throughout the month of March where each Innovator delivers a short pitch in the context of a guest speaker’s research and expertise. These talks specifically target the funding community and are meant to be educational events that foster a dialogue around the social issue. Thus far, we have held three social issue talks: “Increasing Urban Sustainability” featuring Mystic River Watershed Association, “Changing Lives of Youth with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities” featuring Waypoint Adventure, and “Increasing Access to Arts” featuring Company One Theatre.
We are thrilled about the progress our Innovators have made over the past few months, and are looking forward to the Showcase in early May. Again, we deeply appreciate your support, and look forward to continuing our work together.
