Dear GlobalGiving Donors,
In our last report, we explained how the funds raised through our “Invest in Teacher Training in Mexico” project will be allocated to funding a Spring 2014 IAPE Intensive English (IAPE IE) session. Spring is upon us, and so is our IAPE Intensive English session! The program took place March 30th through April 9th, 2014, and it was successful as ever. We are happy to report that your donations have supported teachers in our IAPE IE program which took place in Tlaxcala, Mexico. The 40 participating teachers went through ten intense days of English instruction and pedagogical training, conducted by certified Rassias® Method immersion instructors alongside past program participants. Although the training was hard work, it was significant nonetheless. As always, our IAPE IE participants gave it their all, with one participant commenting, “I want to open the horizons for my students. I want to open their eyes to other countries and cultures and encourage them to learn. IAPE introduced me to people from other parts of Mexico even, I couldn’t have imagined it! My students couldn’t imagine this exposure either! They have such bright futures ahead and I want to orient them to take their life in a better way than what they know in their communities. Their parents didn’t have good opportunities, but they do. I do too” (Xochitl Salazar, IAPE IE participant).
The session might be over but the toughest part of the training is happening right now. Each of our IAPE IE participants has the task of returning to their schools and implement all of the skills, techniques, drills and ideas they learned during their training. But they are not alone. Our IAPE IE participants will continue to be involved with each other by engaging with their IAPE colleagues in the IAPE Virtual Community, a virtual support network where they can share best teaching practices, stories, and questions—all within the IAPE community.
On behalf of everyone involved in these programs, from the Worldfund administrators to the Rassias® instructors to the IAPE participants themselves, we would like to express our most sincere gratitude to every GlobalGiving donor who supporedt us with funds that carry us through successful training sessions such as these. Thanks to your support, we have added 40 new members to our IAPE community who will use the skills they learned to provide a high-quality education and positively impact the way in which their students experience and learn the English language. We could not have done without you.
