Worldfund's mission is to raise the quality and relevance of education in Latin America in order to transform lives and break the cycle of poverty. Our program, the Inter-American Partnership for Education (IAPE), trains English-language teachers in Mexico's public schools. The goal is to create a community of innovative and committed English language educators who will transform English instruction in Mexico because it is a critical skill in the global marketplace.
All profits raised through our “Invest in Teacher Training in Mexico” project will be allocated to funding one IAPE Intensive English (IAPE IE) session in Mexico in the spring of 2014. The goal of IAPE IE is to empower classroom teachers with the English language skills and teaching skills necessary to inspire students to master English. Each session is 10 days long and consists of 80 hours of intense English instruction by certified Rassias® immersion instructors. IAPE IE trains 40 teachers per session.
Carlos Novoa, an English teacher in Jalisco, Mexico, and IAPE IE 2013 participant reminisces, “These days in the IAPE Intensive English course have been the most unbelievable days of my whole life. When I got here, I was a stressed teacher with a lot of mixed feelings. But now, I am happy and excited with a lot of good energy because I have been exposed to this incredible IAPE team and the Rassias® Methodology. They were like a virus that transformed my whole being into a much better person and into a super completely equipped teacher.”
Worldfund hopes to raise more funds to fully support one IAPE Intensive English session. There is a high demand for these training sessions in Mexico because of the vast outreach that program participants have conducted in their school communities. A fully-funded program will also provide an opportunity for new English teachers to be mentored and taught by former IAPE participants since our IAPE Intensive English program incorporates previous IAPE Teachers’ Collaborative participants as instructors.
Worldfund would like to take this opportunity to thank all of donors for their support in funding this important program that helps teachers be more successful in the classroom and ensures higher quality learning standards for students throughout Mexico. How would you like to be involved?
