Dear Donor,

We hope that you are in very good health, which is the most important thing in this time of pandemic. Our work cannot stop because burn scars need to be constantly supervised.

We want to thank you for your support to finance the rehabilitation of 7 burned children in Peru. Our team, kids and all their families are thankful with you, for your generosity and support. Without your help we couldn’t have come this far.

This time we want to tell you that most of the patients have been completely rehabilitated. However, patients should be observed until the age 18 because they could present change in their behaviors typical of age. All of us can see their improvements in every check up; and see them running and jumping around our center hallways lights up our day. No more tears, they are truly happier.

They will continue to come to ANIQUEM to be evaluated periodically and we want to tell you that your valuable support has helped them to receive physical and occupational therapies, pressure garments, delivery of creams, splints and emotional support for them and their families. They have a normal life, playing, studying and enjoying their childhood.

Today we don’t have enough words to tell you how happy we are. Your contribution has changed these little angels and moms live, thank you so much for all your support.

In addition, in January of this year, there was an explosion in the south of Lima where 39 people died and only 11 survived. They arrived at ANIQUEM in a terrible physical and mental condition and we are taking full care of them.

Read more in the link below, for five days straight (Sept. 14-18), GlobalGiving online donations up to $50 will be matched at 50%!!  Don´t miss this opportunity: This way we will be able to improve the life quality of this survivors substantially and give them a new future!

We send you our best wishes and we’re really blessed to count on you!!!

Please take care!

Dear Donors,

Thank you so much for your support to finance the rehabilitation of 7 burned children in Peru. One of the children you are supporting is Anita, who is going to tell her story herself (we translated it in English for you though):

Hello, my name is Ana and I am 7 years old. 4 years ago, I was playing in the kitchen and I wanted to see what was on top of the kitchen, so I opened the oven door and hot water fell on my chin and chest, it hurts a lot.  I went to the hospital and I was hospitalized for 2 months Then when I got out of the hospital they took me to Aniquem, there I received my therapies and I met other children who were also burned like me. Now I feel much better but I no longer go into the kitchen to play, I just play with my little brother in another room. When I grow up I would like to be like the doctors to help more children like me.

Anita is a sweet girl, a bit naughty but very smart, her mother thinks that when she grows up she will be a great doctor and so will we. She now attends school like other children online and is very outgoing, but she is still scared , so she receives psychological therapies and is improving little by little, the work we have done has paid off and we are very proud to see Anita so happy and well.

Thank you again so much for helping Anita and many other children with severe burns in Peru!

If you have any questions concerning our work or if you would like to visit our rehabilitation center to see our work yourself, just let us know!

We send you our best wishes and hope you have a great day!

First photo of little Deivi

Dear donors,

Thank you so much for your support to finance the rehabilitation of 7 burned children in Peru. This is just a little way we can say thank you! Without your help we couldn't have gotten to where we are now. In our center we receive a new burned kid every day, and until today we have been able to give integral rehabilitation to more than 4600 children from our whole country.

Today I would like to introduce a brave little boy you are supporting with your donations. His name is Deivi, he’s 5 years old and comes from a poor town in northern Peru.

In our country it is very common for families living in poverty to cook their food in an artisanal way: assembling a small fire with stones and firewood, on the ground. Deivi was only 3 years old when he didn't realize this; approached the wood-burning stove and pulled the hot pot of soup towards him, which caused severe burns on his face, chest, shoulders and arms.

The first thing his parents did was to pour cold water on the burns - that was very good - and then they took him immediately to the health center of his community, but unfortunately due to the severity of his burns, the doctors recommended his parents to take him to a hospital in Lima, our country’s capital.

Despite the difficult economic situation the family faces, his parents did everything in their power for him to continue the treatment. They arrived at ANIQUEM two days after the accident and he has not stopped receiving treatment for a single day. While mom and little Deivi come every three weeks to receive therapies, dad works very hard every day as a worker of any construction or farm to raise money.

If you would see everything that Deivi has improved in these years, you would be as amazed as I am right now. Your face now has a special and different brightness, as you can see in the photos I am attaching to this email. This little man has received many physical and occupational therapies, psychological treatment to overcome the trauma of the accident; facing all this with courage and the unstoppable support of their parents and our great staff.

I love seeing the before and after life of our patients. It makes me think that everything we do is paid just by seeing them happy and enjoying the life that every child deserves to have.

We are happy to witness how not only the face of our patients changes, but also their families recover their joy again. So we look forward to each check-up so they can tell us how they are doing.

The love that this little one feels for his mother is so great that we choose his photo for our greeting for Mother's Day in our social networks. On behalf of him, his mother and all our patients, I want to thank you again for your help and what that means for our organization.

Thank you again for all your support. We’re really blessed to count on you!!!

Dear Donors,

Thank you so much for your support to finance the rehabilitation of 7 burned children in Peru. Our team, kids and all their families are thankful with you, for your generosity and support. Without your help we couldn’t have come this far.

In this opportunity I’d like to introduce you one of our most little angels (a.k.a patients) in ANIQUEM, her name is Yarumi and she is a warrior!

Little Yarumi was only 11 months old when an accident changed her life forever. She fell from her baby walker into a plastic bathtub full of hot water.

Thanks to your generosity Yarumi is receiving the treatments needed for an integral rehabilitation in ANIQUEM, which means physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychological treatment, reinsertion into the society and special lycra garments to get better the scars in her face, torax and hands.

She and mom comes to ANIQUEM more than a year and I'm still amazed by all the difficulties that they have had overcome together in all this time, with another little lady and no help from the father. Yarumi’s mom never gave up and made everything to see her enjoying life like all the children do. And I’m so humbled to tell their story.

All of us can see her improvements in every check up; and see her running and jumping around our center hallways lights up our day. No more tears, she's truly happier thanks to you!

Today we don’t have enough words to tell you how happy we are. Your contribution is changing this little angel and mom’s life, thank you so much!

Thank you again for all your support. We’re really blessed to count on you!!!

The biggest smile!
The biggest smile!

When you meet Fabricio for the first time it is very unlikely that you can never ever forget his cute and sweet big smile. He is giving big steps to overcoming a trauma caused by the accident when he pulled down the cord of a kettle and all the hot water fell over him causing burns in his little head, back, intimates parts and legs.

I love the connection he has with her mama, it just took me few minutes to realize how much they love each other and understand the beautiful bond between them. Fabricio’s mum support in therapies have been so important in the progress of his integral rehabilitation.

Months ago little Fabricio was chosen to be the image of a great campaign we launched with a company. People there just loved his cute and big smile -as all of us-, I think everyone of us that have seen it react like that doesnt it? Because he is a symbol of all our kids: their strength and the way they learn to see life again is what we love to see in our patients. We are so proud of them!

One of this company managers told me that he never thought that our kids could smile like this due the situation they are living. So I explained him that’s the goal of our work. We want all of our children have a second chance to enjoy life the same way they did it before -even better!-

But there is still a big challenge to overcome, something that can make this little one happier than he is now: Fabricio has to receive several therapies and use special garments to improve motion on his arms. We know there is a long way to go but we feel happy to count on all of you to trough this path.

He already knows that there are kind people whom are supporting his treatments. And when I told him that I wanted to make a photo to send it to all these people, he made this sign - “A kiss" he said!

Thank you so much again for helping us to make Fabricio a happier little boy!

Besides him, there are other kids that urgently need our help. You can help us to change their lives and give them the integral rehabilitation they deserve - click on the link below to read their story. Thank you so much and have great day!
