YoungArts identifies exceptional young artists, amplifies their potential, and invests in their lifelong creative freedom. For many young people, applying to YoungArts may be the first step in affirming "I am an artist." YoungArts is one of the only organizations in the U.S. that supports artists across 10 disciplines at all stages of development, beginning with the critical moment when they decide to pursue a life in the arts, and continuing throughout their careers.
YoungArts is the only organization in the United States that provides a variety of programs and monetary awards to young artists in all artistic disciplines. Your contribution to YoungArts helps provide these emerging young artists with life-changing experiences and validation by renowned mentors, access to significant scholarships, national recognition. In a society that tends to tell artists to "be realistic," YoungArts encourages talented young artists to pursue careers in the arts.
Every year thousands of performing, visual and literary artists age 15-18 apply to YoungArts through our national competition. All award winners-including Finalist, Merit and Honorable Mention award levels-receive mentorship and financial awards; gain access to a lifetime of creative, professional development and funding opportunities; and become part of an uplifting, inter-generational community that helps artists connect, create and collaborate.
For over 40 years, YoungArts has provided more than 21,000 exceptional young artists with affirmation and encouragement that fuels their artistic careers. These artists--including actress Kerry Washington, singer Josh Groban, actor Timothee Chalamet, poet Amanda Gorman and dancer Desmond Richardson--have altered and continue to influence the creative community, providing inspiration to young artists everywhere. The support of our community helps bolster the next generation of artistic leaders.
