"Doing" projects for social good is not enough. We maximize our impact by teaching and supporting other organizations to understand and manage theirs - and shifted our focus to respond. Now, we are going big: to support hard-hitting organizations at a greater, and more meaningful scale. We will give them the knowledge, technical support and resources they need to measure, manage and maximize the good that they do for the resources that they invest to create exponential social change.
Its estimated that in Colombia, there are over 50,000 NGO. However, lack of experience, the "know-how" and resources leaves these potentially powerful organizations at a cliff: how do they innovate to make more impact? Furthermore, many organizations have never taken on the responsibility of measuring or managing their impact - what MM does best. They are left measuring in ways that don't show change, and therefore have inadequate information to do better, and to maximize their impact.
MM will solve this problem by redesigning our services for the social sector and community organizations, which already have the local knowledge and a trusting relationship with their community, so that they can better manage their projects, programs and therefore - impact. We will do this through several different activities: First, personal, active training for project design, impact measurement and management; organizational level coaching and advocacy for innovation in the social sector.
One of the greatest barriers to social change is inefficient organizations. Many of the organizations that we serve already have several projects, funds and teams that have local knowledge. However, they don't have a leading organization that guides them through the practical steps, and offers inspiration and courage to continue to innovate for impact. We know that our work with the social sector will have long-term, positive effects on transparency, management and social transformation.
