Challenge

Rural women in Ghana, who primarily depend on agriculture for their livelihoods, face severe challenges due to climate change, including unpredictable rainfall, prolonged droughts, soil degradation, and declining crop yields, which threaten their food security and economic stability. Limited access to modern agricultural technology, climate-smart farming techniques, irrigation systems, quality inputs, and reliable market connections further exacerbates their vulnerability.

Solution

This project will address the economic vulnerability of 100 rural women in Koduakrom community in Ghana by equipping them with Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) techniques and modern technology to improve productivity, resilience, and financial independence. By providing hands-on training in sustainable farming practices, including organic composting, intercropping, and drought-resistant crops, women will learn how to increase yields while preserving soil health.

Long-Term Impact

The long-term impact of this project includes increased agricultural productivity and resilience among rural women, leading to sustainable food security and improved household incomes. By adopting climate-smart practices and modern technology, women farmers will enhance soil health, conserve water, and mitigate climate change effects, ensuring long-term environmental sustainability. Access to digital tools and market linkages will empower women economically, fostering financial independence.
