We’re excited to share an update on The Innovation Hub for Children with Disabilities, a special project by The Action Foundation — made possible through your amazing support on GlobalGiving.
Thanks to your generous contributions, we’ve made some great progress on our land in the Karen area of Nairobi. We’ve now fenced the entire property, which is a big first step! Having a secure space is very important as we prepare to begin construction. The fence will help protect the area and keep everything safe during the building process — and later, it will help keep children, families, and staff safe while using the Hub.
We’ve also installed a strong, welcoming gate at the entrance. This gate is more than just a way to enter the space — it’s a symbol of the safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment we’re building for children with disabilities. Every child who walks through it will be entering a space built with love, care, and purpose.
Another exciting update is that we’ve started planting trees around the property. These trees will offer shade, beauty, and a peaceful feel to the space. More importantly, they represent growth, life, and our long-term commitment to making this a sustainable, green space for children to thrive. As the trees grow, so will the children and families who will benefit from the Hub.
These achievements may seem simple, but they are huge steps toward our bigger goal: building a fully accessible and inclusive space where children with disabilities can learn, play, and grow. The Innovation Hub will also provide support for families and caregivers through therapy, training, and community programs.
We are now getting ready for the next phase — starting the actual construction! It’s an exciting time, and we are so grateful to have you with us on this journey.
Your support truly makes all the difference. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps bring us closer to a future where children with disabilities have the same opportunities as all children — to dream, learn, and be included.
