In person support for 60 South American NGOs

Summary

Hola! I am Viktorija, a volunteer Field Traveler for GlobalGiving. During March-September 2019 I am visiting nonprofit partners in South America (Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru). During 6 months in the field my role is to strengthen connections with existing nonprofit partners through project site visits. Apart from that, I am also leading workshops about efficient fundraising, facilitating peer discussions on vital topics and providing a platform to learn from and share success stories.

Challenge

In every community local nonprofits are an important part of fast and efficient problem solving. Unfortunately they are the ones who usually struggle to diversify and secure funds for their causes. With increasing importance of crowdfunding, nonprofits try to educate themselves how to efficiently use this new source of funding but in many cases don't have the necessary resources and tools to use the full potential of it.

Solution

After 6 months in the field I will visit 60 GlobalGiving nonprofits, organize 8 workshops for potential new partners and moderate 5 networking discussions. This will not only show that GlobalGiving and its donors care about every partner but will also provide individualized support, answer pending questions, show how to use the tools available for nonprofits on GlobalGiving, strengthen their relations with local and global peers, and boost their self confidence.

Long-Term Impact

In the long run there will be more South American nonprofits trying crowdfunding and successfully funding their projects solving the most relevant problems of local communities. The growing impact of new and existing GlobalGiving partners will make philanthropy efforts more fruitful and efficient.
