Challenge

Two major earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude struck northern Venezuela, causing widespread structural damage, power and communications outages, and leaving people trapped beneath collapsed buildings. Tsunami warnings were issued for parts of the Caribbean as emergency responders raced to rescue survivors amid ongoing aftershocks and growing humanitarian needs.

Solution

Your donation to the GlobalGiving Venezuela Earthquake Relief Fund will provide local organizations with flexible, rapid funding to deliver emergency medical care, search and rescue support, temporary shelter, food, clean water, hygiene supplies, and other essential services. It will also help communities begin rebuilding and recovering as they face the long-term impacts of this disaster.

How Your Donation Will Be Used

When you donate to the GlobalGiving Venezuela Earthquake Relief Fund, your donation will:

  • Help local organizations provide lifesaving emergency response, medical care, shelter, food, and clean water to survivors.
  • Reach communities most affected by the earthquakes and tsunami threats, including underserved and hard-to-access areas.
  • Equip trusted local leaders with flexible funding, tools, and resources to support recovery, rebuild infrastructure, and strengthen resilience for the future.

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
