November Project Report - Holiday Baskets of Microenterprise Cheer

By Shoshana Grossman-Crist | Communications and Quality Control Coordinator

One holiday basket for sale in Mexico City!
One holiday basket for sale in Mexico City!

With the holidays just around the corner, IMIFAP "I want to, I can" microenterprises have been in full swing preparing for the gift giving season. Holiday gift baskets of our microentrepreneurs’ products are being sold in Mexico City! Read on to get to know what these women are up to.

The guava jams mentioned in last month’s report are being combined with other products to make holiday baskets. Included are the chocolates made by ten women in Las Palmas, Oaxaca who travel an hour and a half to use a special cacao grinder. With your donation, these women are about to purchase their own grinder to improve their cost-efficiency and scale of production. You can also purchase their chocolates by browsing our catalogue of holiday gifts (in Spanish: http://www.imifap.org.mx/catalogonavidad.pdf). The profits from the sales help support these women’s families and the growth of their microenterprise.

The group in Concepción Buenavista, Oaxaca mentioned in last month’s report continues to improve their recipe for dried cactus, ensuring that every batch is dried to perfection. The group will sell the cactus within their community over the holidays while it prepares to sell to larger markets in the New Year.

Thank you for your continued support!
