On the eve of 69th Independence Day of India, 17 children impacted by HIV/AIDS were given study chairs and exam pads in Karimnagar district of Telangana State.
These children, aged between 5 and 15 years, belong to families where at least one of the parents is HIV positive and some children are are HIV positive too. This not only strains the living conditions of the children but also leads to stigmatization, discrimination and marginalization.
Spandana Sri Mythri Sri Public Welfare Society (SSMSPWS), a collective of women in sex work is one of the partner organizations of Swasti, organised a study chair and exam pads distribution program for children. More than 50 members including these 17 children participated in the program.
Swasti has contributed Rs.7200 raised from individual donors towards purchase of study chairs and exam pads for these children in Karimnagar.
We extend our best wishes to these children to stay healthy and excel in education.
