By Jane Segleau | Director
Dear everyone,
Unfortunately, ASIREA has been very very busy in several projects during the past few months, so we have not been able to promote this project nor have we recieved support from businesses in other countries. Persoanlly, our director has been battling with health issues, which has made our work even more difficult.
Still ...and in spite of all this...we have continued working quite hard. We are using wood waste to produce mulch which we dry in a little plastic-bamboo building we put up. This is a new product for us, and can help sustain our work, but we are at the stage of establishing a market for the mulch.
Our reforestation work continues, garanteeing a continuous supply of wood.
We know thet people think that cutting trees down is basically evil- and in many circumstances...it is. But in this case, we are creating trees as a continuous crop and desperately trying to improve prices of the wood paid to farmers so that there is a real incentive to tree planting. We know for sure that this is only possible if we can add value to wood- and our best ostion is by drying it, because locally no one else is doing this.
That is why this campaign is so important for us and we will begin to work day to day...and sometimes nights...to achieve this goal with your help.
Thankyou!
