Improving lives with value added wood, Costa Rica

Last year we really worked hard on this project and had several very important advances:

1. We assembled a group of 4 local furniture makers who are committed to design and develop furniture that uses wood that otherwise would have to be sold at prices below its real value. They have made 5 prototypes and are in the process of improving them.
2. The Technological Institute of Costa Rica is totally on board with this project and three experts on wood marketing/drying are designing a low-cost wood dryer adapted to our needs and climate. We are sooo excited about this because it means that we a closer to our goal of having a wood kiln.
3. Our wood producers are organizing a co-op to assure more participation in this whole process and fair treatment for all the people involved.

Also, in October we elected our new board which is totally commited to this project. 

As a donor, you are definitely part of all this success. We have achieved almost 25% of our goal and we hope soon to be telling you that we are drying wood in our own solar dryer!
