A couple of months ago VAP was engaged in a vigorous local online fundraising campaign through the YETU initiative geared towards supporting its Employability and Entrepreneurship project that strives to economically empower graduates of football based life skills programs. On this drive VAP came out shouting with its trumpets, living no stone unturned calling upon all well-wishers, partners, and volunteers from different walks of the world to support the initiative and help VAP reach its target of raising Kes, 500,000 within a span of 6 months. It’s through the response of this calling and the generous contribution made by YOU that VAP finally hit the target ahead of 18 days to go. The collected funds will go towards supporting and scaling up the Economic and Employability project by introducing other vocational training courses.
Ready, set, go! 2018 Vocational training Cohorts
Having started on a shoe string budget, VAP’s employment and entrepreneurship project which is part of the wider vocational training initiative, an off-shoot of Mrembo program, received a major boost from standard chartered bank to support more girls in its vocational training courses. The six month grant enabled VAP to stretch out its vocational training tentacles, reaching out to other courses which were as a result of the mini research on vocational training courses selected by the participants. Amongst the new courses include: paralegal, Information &technology, Interior design and website design.VAP has partnered with various local colleges who will ensure quality trainings are rendered to the participants as an exit strategy of providing internship and job placements after their courses are laid down."Am looking forward to doing paralegal and help out advocating for the right of children in my community." Said 18 years old Jenny.
