Cocoa production is still characterized by extensive techniques of forest clearings, a low rate of adoption of plant material selected.Yields were down in all growing areas because of the older orchards. Many farmers affected by old age are not substituted by young people, soil fertility has declined in many plantation. Treatment plant have disappeared ad to this the lack of technical support and subsidy to farmer . Solution:Train about 200 cocoa producers and regeneration of almost 150 orchards
Cameroon is 80 per cent of cocoa cultivation. This culture is traditionally practiced in the central and western Cameroon since independence. In this period the lighthouse, the cultivation of cocoa knew the best results and was the first export crop of the country and marked the national economy. Over the past decade, it's been a decline in this sector. Cocoa farmers are struggling and produce with difficulty because of high pest pressure and an advanced level of degradation of orchard.
In this project, we will support for a beginning, a)-Training of 150 cocoa farmers on the achievement of plantations in the background, with capacity building of farmers and their organizations in order to improve their living conditions through the increase in their income. This will lead to increase the yield of production. b)- Regenerate the old cocoa plantation gradually until their rejuvenation, Regeneration of old cocoa plantations covers two basic concepts: rehabilitation and replanting
With this project, we aim: a) Increase cocoa production in this region; b) Encourage and train young people in rural areas on the technical production of cocoa at the end to replace the old man who no longer have the strength to work; c) Regenerate the old cocoa plantation in the region; d) Improve and increase the conditions of life and labor of cocoa farmers; e) Eliminate or reduce prostitution, crime and child labor in rural areas by Subsribe in schools; f) Decrease the rural exodus
