Dear friends,
Since the last report of our health project “to improve nutrition of 150 children in Cusco” lots of things have happened.
Agreements signed with our stakeholders
We signed agreements with our stakeholders: the participating communities and the health center in order to work together in the execution of the project and achieve our goals of the project.
Water tanks with safe drinking water for the community Satelite
We had the privilege of the visit of a volunteer organization from the United States to implement water tanks in one of the participating communities of the health project. Now this community has safe drinking water and doesn´t need to walk half an hour uphill to get the water out of the well and will receive the water now close to their neighborhood. The community pays a small amount per water bucket and is fully controlled by their own community members. The board of directors of the community was very grateful that they now have safe drinking water and there were also a lot of happy faces from the volunteers who had a great experience in helping the people from our health project.
Trainings and other activities in the health project
The team of the health project of CEDNA realized the planned training workshops with the mothers of the project. Such as demonstration sessions in the preparation of nutritious recipes, washing of the hands, training sessions about health issues and our new business advisor started also his trainings about business themes, visited the houses of the mothers or their own businesses to advise them personally. Also he started with a group of mothers the “pandero” a form of saving money. A dental health care campaign was performed with all the children of the project with the help of the health center. We also executed the quarterly weight and size of the children in order to measure the advance of their nutrition status.
Facebook: Humans of CEDNA
We introduced the facebook page: “humans of CEDNA” in order to show the work of CEDNA through the eyes of the people we work with. Just have a look to get to know these amazing people of Cusco. For more information see also our enclosure the newsletter of CEDNA May – July 2014.
With kind regards,
Cora Staats, director of CEDNA
