Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, yet many rural communities in Liberia continue to face challenges in water services and sanitation. The lack of clean water sources contributes to waterborne diseases such as typhoid, diarrhea, and cholera, hampers health, and impedes overall community development. Our project aims to address these issues by increasing access to safe and clean water in many rural and last-mile communities in Liberia.
In rural Liberia, the lack of access to safe drinking water presents a formidable challenge, significantly impacting public health and community development. According to statistics from UNICEF, approximately 82% of Liberia's rural population lacks access to basic water services, leaving millions vulnerable to waterborne diseases. As a result, waterborne illnesses such as typhoid, diarrhea, and dysentery are widespread, contributing to high infant mortality rates.
This project will address the lack of clean and safe drinking water in rural Liberia through several key strategies. We will implement infrastructure improvements such as drilling boreholes, installing hand pumps, and implementing water purification systems to provide reliable sources of clean water. These interventions will directly increase access to safe drinking water, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases and improving public health outcomes.
This project will provide clean and safe drinking water to households in each rural communities in Liberia, offering tangible benefits to their health, educational opportunities, and economic well-being. By reducing waterborne diseases, children can attend school regularly, leading to better educational outcomes. Moreover, improved access to water enables communities to engage in productive activities, fostering economic growth and stability.
