Imani Collective is on a mission to break the cycle of generational poverty in Kenya through dignified work and holistic care. Our holistic care programs such as daily meals, childcare, literacy courses, and more, are at the heart of what we do, as they care for the whole person and sustainably uplift individuals and their families out of poverty, transforming generations. Over 8.9 million Kenyans live below the international poverty line of $1.90 (World Bank). Over half of this number are women, as they are afforded less opportunity, support, and ability to become financially independent. And, when only one of these issues is addressed, it makes it harder for sustainable, long-term change to take place. For example, if a single mother is given a job but doesn't have childcare, it is harder to consistently work. Our holistic approach addresses these challenges.
Through our provision of dignified work and holistic programs to sustain and encourage them, women in Kenya are empowered to live up to their full potential and create better lives for themselves and their families. Our holistic care programs provide healthy food, reliable childcare, personal development, financial literacy, specialized trainings, a loving community, and more to our artisans. All of these pieces fit together to create a picture of real transformation that impacts generations.
