Training early childhood practitioners in Dikhatole Township, near Johannesburg, in science, technology and diversity training and empowering them with Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Dikhatole suffers from chronic unemployment, no running water, electricity or basic housing. For the few who attend, the quality of education in the pre-primary facilities is very poor. ORT has created the Dikhatole Digital Village, with more than 90 Internet-enabled workstations, trained 2,400 children in basic computer use and is teaching teachers, school administrators and government employees to use ICT as an effective teaching and implementation tool.
