The unemployment rate in Uganda is forecast to 3.39% in 2024 because of the big number of youths leaving school in rural areas. The local government has hardly tried to extend the ICT sector to the rural community to cater for these youths-school dropouts. This arrangement will extend facilities for training latest ICT skills to rural youths to facilitate innovations for job creation, online marketing, information dissemination for healthcare, climate and Agriculture.
Will set up Physical ICT skills training centers in 5 community meeting centers to train ICT skills to at least 200 youths per center. Train youths how to use portable ICT devices (tablets, smartphones, laptops) to record, edit videos and audios to develop relevant content for community activities such as Agriculture. Will identify "super youths" to train more youths for project continuity. Form ICT Innovation Exhibition Days to market innovations. Continuous financial literacy trainings.
The project will train ICT skills to at least 1,000 rural youths to create awareness for modern creativity based on the latest ICT trends for content development and improve youth productivity for lasting impact such as: Increased ICT business units due to quick skills access for innovations and online market. Updated society for health care, environment, political affairs, and climate management. Reduction in crime rates, school dropouts and illiteracy, pre-mature/teenage pregnancies.
