We are making progress!
First of all, we have a name for the center: The Back Yard (TBY).
Although these kids have never had the back yard that most of us had growing up, this name was chosen because we want it to be a comfortable and safe place for kids to come and learn while having fun.
Several people have volunteered to help us with the design and development of TBY. We have been in contact with several companies in the US who have been instrumental in advising on options for the shape and materials needed that will withstand the occasional hurricane and yet be inexpensive and fully functional. We also have a concrete firm ready to provide discounted materials and time for the project, and interest from other companies on Cozumel.
Of course, the kids are looking forward to changing the dirt, gravel, and at times, mud field to a place they can use anytime.
Thank you for your support!
