Hygiene Kits & Construction of Toilets For Girls

Joy Foundation has been working for women hygiene for a long time with support of GlobalGiving and his partner. With this support we have constructed toilets for women in different rural areas and also give this hygiene kits. This helped the women and young girls a lot. This not only helped women but it also stopped the issue of open defecation, which was very beneficial for environmental hygiene and sanitation. The supported families were also given awareness sessions on the safe use of these toilets, the importance of toilets, the harms that open defecation can cause and the benefits of toilets for women and girls. We will continue this work and keep targeting the rural areas where open defecation is still a norm for people and safety of women and girls is not considered important.

This time we build some more toilets and also targeted the young girls with hygiene kits which included items for personal hygiene. This kit will help these girls to practice safe hygiene practices. Before the distribution of hygiene kits, these women and girls were given awareness session on the utilization of the hygiene products and why the hygiene is important for the safety and health of women and girls. These practices will not only keep you healthy but will also impart a great deal of knowledge to other family members as well so that they can also start practicing these hygiene measures.

We request all our friends and support of this project please continue your support so that we continue support the poor women and girls in our areas.

Joy Foundation has been working hard for women empowerment on grassroots level. The team has been putting a lot of effort into initiatives that uplift women. Hygiene is one of the most important needs at the time as we are also going through the pandemic. As compared to men, women are not taking much protection against the pandemic, particularly the women at grassroots level. They feel like hygiene materials are expensive and are only important for men who are working and have to go out everyday. But they lack the knowledge that women need protection against the virus as well. But at grassroots level people cannot afford these things. Since we took this initiative a lot has changed, at first women were prone to diseases due to unhygienic practices, including lack of sanitation facilities and open defecation, but now the pandemic has added another risk to this list.

Through this project we not only aim to construct toilets for girls and provide them with hygiene kits, we also aim to aware these girls and women about the importance of hygienic practices for a better health particularly now when we are going through pandemic and the different varients of COVID-19. We hope soon we will have enough funds for this project and support more women.

There are many areas in Pakistan where open defecation is considered normal. Construction of toilets is not the only important thing but educating the people in villages about the importance of hygiene and sanitation is also important. Open defecation results in the spread of many diseases which are harmful. Now that the COVID-19 virus has spread all accross the world, open defecation practices need to stop so that the spread of diseases could be controlled and this could only be possible by providing the quality awareness and education about hygiene and sanitation. Along with all these issues open defecation practices are also not safe for women and girls, especially now, when there is a long list of harrassment and rape cases in the country.

Joy Foundation hopes that soon we will have enough resources for this project and through these funds we will be able to construct more toilets and spread more hygiene and sanitation awareness in communities where people are still practicing open defecation. Your support and funds will help us achieve this goal.

During the second waves of COVID-19 people have problems more than first wave because everything is close again but this situation related with hygiene also very bad in the village area. In village side mostly people did not have toilet because of that it’s difficult to have hygiene practices and this situation case of many diseases in the village area and also it’s not good for the situation of the COVID right now. Mostly its problem for girls and women because If they did not have toilet at home during this lockdown situation. With the kind support of GlobalGiving and their partner Joy Foundation able to give this facility to some of the families at the village area to have toilet at home Because of that girls and women are very happy because now they don’t need to go out for the toilet.

Once again we thanks to our entire supporter on GlobalGiving for their support and we request you all please continue this support because many families still need this facility for these families. I am going to attach some new pictures of the construction of new toilet of family which live on brick kiln in village. I hope in coming future we have more support to help more families.
