Help Global Links provide medical supplies and equipment to our partners in impacted areas of Cuba. Help protect healthcare workers, prevent the spread of disease and assist medical facilities to rebuild and continue services.
Doctors and healthcare workers are in need of medical materials to prevent the spread of disease, in particular cholera, and to recover from damages to health facilities impacted by the hurricane.
According to reports, 40-50% of health facilities were damaged or are partially operating in eastern Cuba. Post hurricane conditions are favorable for an increase in cholera. Global Links has activated a response team with our long-time partners at PAHO/WHO to evaluate damages to the health sector and prepare a joint response to support health services and prevent the spread of disease. We will provide medical supplies, healthcare protective gear and materials requested by health authorities.
Global Links has worked in Cuba since 1994, supporting disaster response and long-term recovery. We are working with our partners on the ground to assess the current state of health services and materials necessary to protect health workers and mitigate the spread of disease in affected areas.
