Things are looking up this week.
We had a warm spell of about a week, which allowed utility workers to start working on some of the roads and infrastructure.
Some of you may have seen the news that I-40 is opening between Tennesee and North Carolina: which will allow utility companies west of the border to come into NC without the 100 mile detour.
Regarding families, however, we still have well over 25,000 total people that need assistance with food and necessities.
Unfortunately, government aid has been frozen, so we have not seen many trucks over the past month besides those from nonprofits like ourselves. Many other nonprofits have left because they traveled from as far away as Colorado, but have not seen financial support.
It is still winter and the nightly temperatures are at or below freezing (18 to 32 degrees) wit wind chills that often take an additional 5 to 10 degrees off.
Thus, we are still providing as much firewood and fuel as we can, along with MRE's.
Thank you all for reading and God bless you.
