The past 48 hours have been rough for most teams.
Search and Rescue efforts continue in the Asheville area (to include Black Mountain, Marshall, Biltmore and all creeks, rivers and structures).
More and more families are reporting the loss of everything and unfortunately more missing persons are being confirmed as deceased.
We have been between southeastern Asheville, Spruce Pine, Swannanoa and Black Mountain and seen total devastation. We would estimate that 75% or greater of homes are uninhabitable. Water infrastructure is at 2% or less in most towns. Electricity is spotty at best, as well, cell service.
Businesses we've seen are caked with 2-feet of mud throughout. Grocery stores were demolished and some were looted for anything salvageable.
On a brighter note, communities are coming together by grilling the meats that they have from airdrops and sharing.
*Grilling is really the only way to cook right now. Canned items are being opened at the top and heated on the grills as well. There is very little (if any) fresh produce, dairy or juice. All water is bottled.
They are even sharing clothes that were salvaged.
Please share this project nationally with your friends, organizations and co-workers!
