Hurricane Florence made landfall near Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina on September 14. The storm surge along the low-lying coast and historical levels of flooding inundated communities including Wilmington, New Bern, Jacksonville and Morehead City, and areas near major rivers in the southeast region of the state.
Save the Children sent emergency relief experts to North Carolina days before the storm hit. They worked tirelessly to deliver essential supplies to families in shelters in Raleigh, New Bern, Fayetteville, Morehead City, Brunswick and Wilmington while they waited to return home.
