Kenya is one of the poorest countries in the world and is particularly affected by droughts. As a result, the country ranks 86th in the World Hunger Index 2019.
People like the 55-year-old single parent Kulmiye* from Kenya struggle every day to feed their families. "We can't afford meat and we live far away from the city. We have no permanent source of income for the family. Before, I had a few goats. So we could eat meat now and then, but the drought wiped out our goats".
In order to earn some money and provide for her family, Kulmiye sells small cakes called „Mandazi“ in the nearby school. But the money is not enough.
However, thanks to a member of the German alliance Aktion Deutschland Hilft, people like Kulmiye can feed their families again. The alliance distributes food packages of fresh meat to disadvantaged people suffering from malnutrition.
Kulmiye is very grateful for the support: "My children were very happy about the delicious meat with bread and rice. I am very grateful because other needy people in my village also received food to provide for their families.“
Thank you for supporting the work of our Alliance with your donation!
