Humanitarian aid and disaster prevention belong together. But prevention is becoming more important. Natural disasters such as hurricanes and droughts are increasing. This is partly due to climate change. The consequences can increase suffering and poverty. Now is the time to prevent even greater hardship through disaster preparedness. Since 2001, our alliance has been able to implement around 2,400 aid projects in 130 countries and give new hope to millions of people. Donate to help!
Long-lasting droughts, parched soils, violent weather extremes such as hurricanes: many of these natural phenomena can be traced back to the global rise in temperatures. Climate change is already clearly noticeable for many people around the world. Houses that cannot withstand the force of storms or earthquakes. Dilapidated roads and bridges. Lack of sanitary facilities and no running water: The consequences of natural disasters are often particularly severe in poorer countries.
Farmers learn how to deal with the new weather conditions in training courses, helpers grow protective plants in flood areas and improve the water supply in remote villages. Our alliance organizations help people around the world prepare for natural disasters. For example, with shelters where they can retreat in case of danger, with flood-proof drinking water reservoirs or the construction of earthquake-proof houses. These, among many other measures try to anticipate and minimize catastrophes.
Help poor countries to become independent and able to help themselves in case of catastrophe.
