In the past couple of months at Humans in the Loop Foundation, we have launched our major new initiative: The AI Innovator Pathway Program, in partnership with Subul, our partner organization in Turkey and Syria. The program was launched in October this year and aims to equip a selected group of participants from conflict-affected communities with applied knowledge in AI engineering, Design Thinking, Business Architecture, and Web Development. A total of 20 main participants are taking the tech training (and an additional 5–10 guest students attend as listeners). An additional 15 participants are taking the B1 English for Tech training, and 16 are taking the B2 level.
Moreover, we have started two separate English Language Partnership programs - one to support the English for Tech (B1 and B2) trainees, and one edition for HITL beneficiaries, who want to improve their English communication skills. The program paired native 19 English-speaking volunteers with 19 English for Tech trainees, and an additional 12 volunteers with 12 HITL beneficiaries. This program provides them with an extra hour a week to meet with someone and practice English in a friendly environment.
We are also closing our third edition of the English Speaking Club, led by two dedicated volunteers, supporting 18 beneficiaries with B1-level English or higher in weekly conversational online meetings. The program is coordinated by HITL, and we provide guidelines, a created curriculum, and ongoing support to both beneficiaries and volunteers.
Last month, Humans in the Loop also had the pleasure to attend Everest Group Elevate Dallas 2025 - an event where growth leaders charted the future. The event brought together some of the most forward-thinking leaders redefining how business and purpose can grow together. Our CEO, Tess Valbuena, put it perfectly: "Many challenges, especially in AI, sustainability, and social impact, require diverse expertise and shared resources to solve effectively. Collaboration and partnership spark creative solutions that wouldn’t emerge in isolation.”
Our CEO also took the stage at the UN General Assembly, at Digital for Good: For People and Prosperity, where Humans in the Loop and Humans in the Loop Foundation were recognized for advancing inclusive and ethical AI. Tess shared how real human input keeps AI grounded, embracing diversity and making technology truly representative of the world it serves. We’re proud to see our mission celebrated on such a global stage, and inspired to keep AI ethical, inclusive, and human.
Last but not least, in September, HITL celebrated its 8th Birthday. We hosted a celebratory webinar, called 8 Stories That Made a Difference, where guests were invited to hear from the people behind HITL, sharing real stories of growth, impact, and community. Each story shared was a powerful reminder of why Humans in the Loop exists: to set the standard for ethical, high-quality AI training data while creating real opportunities for people affected by conflict and displacement.
