In the past couple of months at Humans in the Loop Foundation, we have started four new training programs. Our HITL Stars program - an instructor-led course that launched in January 2025 and is set to finish in mid-April 2025. The program consists of two separate levels of English language Beginner level (A1) and Pre-Intermediate (A2). Our English groups consist of a total of 45 participants. In February this year, we also launched our second edition of the HITL Digital Marketing - Hybrid course which started with 27 participants and will finish mid-May. From December 2024 to February 2025, we launched our first-of-its-kind Creative Professional Development Pilot Program. This program connected creativity and performance art with professional skills enhancement and building confidence for people displaced by conflict. It concentrated on entrepreneurial skills such as resilience and strategic thinking, essential for identifying opportunities, solving problems, and driving personal growth. A total of 32 participants attended a minimum of 1 event of the program.
In addition to our English courses as part of the HITL Stars Programme, we also started our English Language Partnership program led by our Volunteer and Training Specialist. This program paired native English speaker volunteers with a total of 20 of our HITL Stars English course trainees. This program provides them with an additional hour a week to meet with someone and practice their speaking skills.
Additionally, in February 2025 we launched our first pilot projects in Uganda and Rwanda, where we are currently providing participants (both locals and people with refugee status in the countries) with annotation skills and access to all our trainings on our Training Platform. We have conducted a train-the-trainer with local representatives on the ground who are supporting all participants throughout their skills-building process. Both pilots have provided a total of 50 people with skills training via our platform, and they have progressed to complete paid mock annotation projects.
We have additionally launched our second edition of the English Speaking Club led by two volunteers supporting 21 beneficiaries with a B1 level of English or higher. The program is coordinated by our Volunteer and Training Specialist, who provides guidelines, and a created curriculum.
