PROJECT SUMMARY
The Human Rights Club Project aims to educate and empower secondary school students about the importance of human rights. We began by equipping them with the knowledge and tools they need to advocate for justice and equality; our goal is to inspire a new generation of change-makers.
RECENT ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
On 28th May 2025, the Human Rights club organised an interschool debate among four schools to commemorate Children's Day. The discussion was centred on 'technology has bridged the gap in the education system today.
The schools spoke for or against the topic, and this was an enlightening session for the participating schools, as they learned to develop their public speaking skills and gained more knowledge about justice and their rights, even as minors.
Additionally, to wrap up the 2024/2025 session, we had a partnership with Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN), which came on board to educate club members on digital literacy and how to stay safe online and not fall victim to cybercrimes such as cyberbullying.
ROAD AHEAD
The human rights club in Nigerian high schools has lots of prospects, but due to financial constraints, our hands are tied on the activities the club can carry out. Looking ahead, we are hoping to forge meaningful partnerships with law firms and organisations whose CSR projects align with the vision of the Human Rights Club
