Teenage motherhood can create difficult circumstances for both a young mother and her child. Interrupted education, financial hardship, stigma, childcare responsibilities and limited opportunities can make it challenging for young mothers to rebuild their lives.
Our programs seek to provide a supportive pathway forward.
We work to encourage teenage mothers to consider education, skills development, counselling and other opportunities that can help them regain confidence and build greater independence.
At the same time, we recognize that their children also need care, protection and opportunities to grow.
Donor support can help provide educational materials, basic necessities, psychosocial support, mentorship and skills-oriented assistance where resources allow.
This approach recognizes that empowering a young mother can have a positive effect on her child as well.
When a young mother gains education or practical skills, she can become better positioned to contribute to her household and provide greater stability for her child.
This can contribute to breaking cycles of poverty and dependency across generations.
We believe teenage mothers should not be defined solely by the circumstances that led to motherhood.
They are young people with potential, aspirations and the capacity to contribute positively to society when given appropriate opportunities.
Donors can help create those opportunities.
By supporting a teenage mother, you are not only investing in one young woman—you may be helping create a stronger future for her child and the generations that follow.
Together, we can replace stigma with support, uncertainty with opportunity and vulnerability with hope.
