A child cannot fully benefit from education while struggling with hunger and unmet basic needs. Children of teenage mothers may experience food insecurity because their young mothers often have limited resources to provide consistently for their families.
Our programs respond by supporting children with school meals and food assistance, clothing, shoes, hygiene essentials, educational materials and other basic necessities. Where appropriate, children and their families also receive psychosocial support and follow-up to identify additional challenges affecting their wellbeing.
School meals are particularly important because they can help children remain focused during lessons rather than worrying about hunger. Having appropriate clothing and shoes can also restore dignity and confidence, allowing children to participate in school activities alongside their peers.
We believe that supporting a child means looking at the whole child—not only their education, but also their nutrition, dignity, emotional wellbeing and basic needs.
Donors are helping us build that complete circle of care. Their generosity enables vulnerable children to experience not just survival, but the possibility of growing into healthy, confident and hopeful young people.
