This project will provide direct assistance for elders who are susceptible to the Coronavirus; people who are displaced from their jobs; families needing temporary child care solutions; and victims of disasters in Houston and surrounding areas. Assistance will help with immediate relief, supplies, and support as well as long term recovery for families and individuals.
According to the Center for Disease Control, CDC is responding to an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by a novel (new) coronavirus that was first detected in China and which has now been detected in more than 100 locations internationally, including in the United States. The virus has been named "SARS-CoV-2" and the disease it causes has been named "coronavirus disease 2019" (abbreviated "COVID-19").
SHAPE provides temporary financial assistance for elderly and disabled people and those who have been displaced from their jobs; have difficulty acquiring food and supplies, and lack financial means to combat the threat of the coronavirus. We provide direct goods such as cleaning supplies and disinfectant, water, food, and other items as needed. SHAPE also provides safe, sanitary child care for displaced students.
We will help 100-200 elders, families and individuals get through the coronavirus threat, while also helping them recover mentally from the turmoil caused by the current pandemonium.
