Project Report | Oct 2, 2024
You made this happen!

By James Ouma, | Founder and Executive Director

As we move close to the last quarter of 2024, we are thrilled to share the incredible progress we’ve made at Lifesong Kenya, thanks to your continued support and dedication. Here’s an update on the impact that your contributions are making on the lives of boys and young men who need healing and restoration.

1. Keeping boys in school

One of our proudest achievements is helping boys who are at risk of dropping out of school to remain in school. Many of the young men we work with face difficult life circumstances that often hinder their academic progress. Through our programs and your generous support, we have been able to buy school uniform, school supplies, shoes and provide mentorship that enables them to continue their education. By focusing on resilience and behavior change, we’ve empowered these boys to stay the course, despite the numerous challenges they face.

2. After-School Program: Nurturing a Love for Reading

Our After-School Program continues to thrive and impacting lives! Every Saturday, boys gather for a time of reading and learning, embracing the joy that comes with reading and engaging with books. Many of these boys, who were once at risk of dropping out, are now enthusiastic about reading and engaging in stories that broaden their minds and horizon. We are also in the process of adding a soccer program, which will provide another avenue for growth, discipline, and community building.

We were also able to take Sanya back to school after he dropped out of school years ago. By doing so, you have helped us to keep his dreams alive.

3. Transitional Housing: A Safe Place to Heal

Our Halfway House has continued to be a cornerstone of our work, thanks to your support. We continue to provide a safe space for boys who need healing and restoration from stigma and trauma. This transitional home is not just a shelter; it is a place where young exceptional men can rediscover their sense of dignity, rebuild their confidence, and prepare for a brighter future. Many have come to us from situations of trauma and stigma, and through your support, we continue to offer them hope and the tools they need to thrive.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, we remain committed to expanding our programs and services to reach more boys and young men in need. In the coming months, we will be focusing on increasing our literacy campaign, expanding our mentorship opportunities, and launching the soccer initiative within our After-School Program.

We couldn’t do this without you. Every step forward, every boy who continues his education, every young man who finds healing in our care—it’s all thanks to your generosity, contribution and sacrificial love. Together, we are making a lasting difference, transforming lives, and building a brighter future where boys will treat women and girls with honor, dignity and respect that makes our world a better and safer place for all.
