Executive Summary
As part of our commitment to restoring dignity and promoting menstrual health, Womans Hope Kenya successfully conducted the Hope Dignity Kit Distribution in Gataka. The initiative focused on providing sanitary pads to vulnerable girls and young women, ensuring they have access to essential menstrual hygiene products.
The distribution aimed to reduce period poverty, promote confidence, and encourage girls to continue attending school and participating in daily activities without interruption due to lack of menstrual products.
Objectives
* To provide sanitary pads to girls and young women experiencing period poverty.
* To promote menstrual hygiene and dignity.
* To reduce barriers that prevent girls from attending school and participating fully in community life.
Activities Conducted
The event brought together girls and young women from the Gataka community. Volunteers organized the distribution process, ensuring each beneficiary received a packet of sanitary pads in an orderly and respectful environment.
Participants were encouraged to ask questions about menstrual hygiene, and the atmosphere was welcoming and supportive. The activity also created an opportunity for interaction between volunteers and beneficiaries, fostering trust and community engagement.
Outcomes
The distribution achieved several positive outcomes:
-Girls received essential menstrual hygiene products, easing the financial burden on their families.
- Beneficiaries expressed gratitude and relief, knowing they would be able to manage their menstrual cycles with dignity.
- The initiative helped raise awareness about menstrual health while reducing the stigma surrounding menstruation.
-Community members appreciated the support and encouraged continued outreach efforts.
Impact
Access to sanitary products is more than a health intervention—it is an investment in education, confidence, and equality. By providing dignity kits, we helped girls remain in school, participate confidently in everyday activities, and feel supported during menstruation.
For many beneficiaries, this simple act of kindness restored hope and reminded them that their well-being matters.
