Fire Season Rescue: Helping Cats In Crisis

By Lauren Click | Project Leader

Wildfire season in Southern California is devastating not just for people, but also for the countless animals who are displaced, injured, or left behind in the chaos. As flames spread, shelters and rescues are overwhelmed with the sudden influx of lost and abandoned cats, and foster homes often have to evacuate with little warning.

When fires break out, the immediate need for supplies skyrockets. Emergency housing, food, medical care, and transport for rescued animals become urgent priorities. Many cats arrive with burns, smoke inhalation, or severe dehydration, requiring intensive veterinary care. Others are terrified and confused, separated from their families or struggling to survive on their own. Shelters in fire-affected areas often have to evacuate, forcing rescues to scramble for temporary housing and safe havens.

Your donations help us rescue and adopt out cats and kittens from shelters, making more room for animals displaced by the fires. By supporting our efforts, you’re not only giving a homeless pet a second chance but also ensuring that shelters have the space and resources to assist animals in crisis. Every contribution—big or small—plays a vital role in saving lives.

Thank you for helping the helpless!
