A Trip Full of Joy

This month I had the chance to visit Sarah's House, our aftercare home for survivors of child sex trafficking in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. I was struck by the joy, life, and beauty of the entire operation. From each teacher and security guard to the newest residents who are still in the stabilization phase of the program; it is a family. Day in and day out your support provides these young girls with the opportunity to continue their education, receive trauma-informed care, and live in a safe, secure and loving environment where they can thrive. I wish you could see it and meet all of the wonderful staff and survivors that you support.

Recently, with the addition of a few new girls to the house, there has been some instability and hardship as the residents and staff adjust to a new dynamic. However, the girls who have been in the house the longest are the leaders, helping the new residents adjust and feel welcome. House moms go above and beyond to ensure each child is cared for individually, and feels safe and secure. Amidst the instability, there is a sense of comraderie and hope.

I was able to be a part of the girls' Zumba classes each afternoon, they LOVE to dance! The house is full of dancing, laughing, singing, and games. There was never a dull moment on the trip. When most people imagine a shelter for survivors of child sex trafficking, I don't think that they picture what our operations at Sarah's House truly feel like. It's a family, and a house full of teenage girls.

Thank you for supporting this life-giving ministry. Your generosity is bringing tangible rescue, hope, and healing to children who need it most. I wish you could meet each of the girls that you support at Sarah's House. They are each so unique and special, and I fully believe that they will change the world.
