Dear Supporter,
A lot has been happening at Compassion First. In June, one of our young women graduated our program! This is a wonderful time for the whole house as we all celebrate together the new life our friend and sister is stepping into. It is also an inspiration and encouragement for the other girls, especially those new to the program. We wish her the best of luck in her new endeavors and look forward to her visiting us often!
Also, after a successful funding campaign, we are now able to buy a brand new van for Grace House, our newest aftercare shelter for survivors of trafficking. This large van is an essential piece of equipment at our shelters. We could not operate effectively without secure transportation. It is necessary for many of our vital operations such as rescues and safely escorting girls to sensitive appointments like court appearances. We are very excited for this important addition to Grace House!
At Sarah's House, a team of dedicated volunteers from the U.S. helped finish a massive remodel of the kitchen. Along with fresh paint and new surfaces, the cabinentry was replaced with stainless steel cabinents better suited to the heat and humidity of Indonesia. Thank you to all our wonderful, hardworking volunteers. We could not do what we do without you!
Finally, you may have heard in the news that a major eathquake hit central Indonesia in early August. Tens of thousands were left homeless and many were injured or killed in the aftermath. A few of our staff were in nearby Bali at the time but none were injured and neither of our homes were affected. We are grateful to have been spared the damage but continue to pray for the many communities still reeling from it's devestation.
As an organization, we recieved record donations in July and look forward to another quarter of continued growth for this project. Thank you again for your continued support of Compassion First!
