Amazing Education Result

Greetings from Margadarshi!!

Board exams play a vital role in shaping the future career of any student as the grades which a student is able to secure in the Board Exams essentially shape the future prospects for the student.

It is our pleasure to inform you the academic achievements of two of our students, Asha and Navya who wrote their Pre University Board Examinations 2019, have exceled in it, and the both have attained First Class. There is no substitute to hard work and this is what students who scored the 2^nd Pre-University Course (PUC) attest.

Asha.M and Navya were taken by happiness, when they saw their results. Asha .M was an Arts Student of St. Ann’s PU College; She secured a total of 423 marks (70.5%). Navya was from the Arts stream of RBANMS PU College and she had scored 375 making a percentage of 62.5. The two jumped with joy and excitement as they made through the exams and all their hard work had paid off. Both spent long hours for exam preparations. They were advised and counselled on how they had to spend their time wisely and effectively and were also to do mock exams. They were made to understand on how important it is to approach learning and mastering the subjects with different effective methods, the methods that help them to study faster and better.

Post their results, the children along with all the staff and other inmates were taken on one day trip to Bannerughatta National Park and had a very refreshing day which was a much needed craving after the completion of their exams and academic year.

Margadarshi Home & Training Centre for Challenged Girls

Greetings from Margadarshi and Happy, Prosperous New Year!!

We are happy to inform that all our students’ mid-term exams got over and they have achieved A+ in most of the subjects, one of our students, Shivanagamma has scored 1^st Class in her 3^rd Semester BA.

Last quarter was a joyous one, as it is the festival season in India. The most fun filled of all was the 2019 New Year Celebration. New Year has magical power that makes a person immensely content for it brings with it, new hopes and aspirations, a positive change over in one’s life, giving them yet another opportunity to let their life unfold and grow as a person, beyond their horizon. This feeling of joy and positivity was overflowing in our girls as they started their preparation to usher in 2019.

The planning and preparation for the New Year celebration started a week before. Different teams were formed, comprising of 5 girls in each group and each group was assigned a task, like conducting quiz, anthakshari (song competition), games, overall decorations, etc.,.

All the girls plunged into their assigned tasks with lot of enthusiasm, from 31^st December morning. By early evening, the Home was decorated beautifully with flowers and with decorative items made by them and lights which gave it a perfect ambience to celebrate their new year. The place was filled with fragrance from incense sticks. By 6pm, all were ready each one dressed in their best and looking like princesses. The celebration started at 6.30pm, with slokas and thanking God for the wonderful 2018. Each Group competed in a positive way and brought out their best in organising the same. It started with musical chair and for many it is the first time they are taking part in this sport. After the show of their physical ability, their mental ability was challenged in the form of Quiz competition, comprising of general knowledge questions, everyone did answer so well, that in the end the 1^st prize had to be shared with many for getting equal marks. It was followed by song competition, the girls burst into laughter when they had silly and humour filled songs during their play of anthakshari. After a delicious specially prepared dinner of pulao, salads and sweets, they resumed their celebration and welcomed the New Year with group dancing. At the strike of 00.00 midnight, they all hugged each other and wished everyone. This was followed by cake-cuttings and a short reflection and resolutions they made for 2019. The winners of the activities conducted were given presents as a token of appreciation. In short everyone received some prize or the other.

We could see their happiness which came from their hearts and as their Well Wisher, the credit goes to YOU, for that smile on their faces.

Shivanagamma - Bold & Beautiful

Greeting from Margadarshi!! Hope you are fine!!!

We are happy to share with you the success story of Shivanagamma.

Shivanagamma lived in Gowdahalli, her family consisted of 6 members. Her father, Veerabadraswamy, the Head of the family, was a labourer by occupation and also owned a petty shop, which was the only source of income for the family, her mother, Nagamani, her brother and relatives. The family strived hard to meet their day-to-day expenses. Though Veerabadraswamy had no education, but was very keen to educate his children. His elder son pursues 1^st year at ITI while his daughter Shivanagamma, pursues 2^nd year BA.

Veerabadraswamy and his family were shattered when they realised that their daughter wasn’t walking as she was already 2 years old. Shivanagamma had her left foot turn down and inward, which hindered her from standing, walking, balancing and doing other essential functions (this in medical terms is known as clubbed feet which is a birth defect, where one or both feet are malformed, affecting their normality. This defect can be treated with treatments such as exercise, physiotherapy, uses of braces or casts and even surgery in some cases). Though Shivanagamma’s parents noticed her inability to walk, but neglected it, thinking she would recover and start walking gradually. But after some years they decided to get medical support and took her to a hospital in Mysore where the doctor informed them that she had been affected due to polio and a surgery could possibly rectify her condition, but her parents refused this advice and bought her back home.

Shivanagamma was sent to a Government School, at the age of 6, , where she studied till 7^th grade. She then went on to study her higher schooling at JSS High School in Gowdhahalli till 10^th Standard. She completed her PUC at SVK Government College in Kollegal where she exceled with 1^st class. At this juncture, her mother became sick and was diagnosed with cancer. The family suffered physically, financially and emotionally. Since her father couldn’t afford to send her for further studies due to finance and other related things, Shivanagamma was asked to discontinue her studies. It was a big blow to Shivanagamma who is very studious and aspired to become a Lecturer.

At this juncture, she was identified in one of our programs, for students aspiring to study further. She along with her parents were counselled and Shivanagamma was advised to come and stay in our Centre at Bangalore (which helps women from rural areas to undergo education and livelihood training, free of cost), to continue her studies. In 2017, Shivanagamma came to our Centre as a resident and joined BA (Bachelor of Arts) at RBANMS College, Bangalore. She cleared her 1^st year with distinction and now pursuing her 2^nd year. She is a fast learner and wants to fulfil her dream of becoming a Lecturer, and here’s Margadarshi wishing her dream to come true and endeavours to do everything for the same.

Shivanagamma says that “I am so happy and feel at Home at Margadarshi and this is the best place for a student to be in”
